1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of the mobile application Steady ("the App"), provided by Ask White ("we", "us"). By installing or using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. What the App does

The App is a diary. It stores blood pressure and pulse readings that you enter — by typing them, by letting the camera read the numbers from your own monitor, or by importing them from the Health app — and shows them back to you as averages, graphs, a calendar, a CSV file and a PDF you can print or hand to your doctor.

3. The App is a record, not medical advice

Steady does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and it is not a medical device. It performs no assessment of your health and makes no judgement about your readings.

The App never suggests a target value. Targets differ a great deal from one person to the next, so the only target the App shows is the one you entered — the figure you or your doctor decided on. Once it is entered, the App subtracts: it shows how far a reading is from that figure, and colours it accordingly. That difference is arithmetic, not an assessment. It is not a classification of your health and not a diagnosis.

Nothing in the App is a substitute for professional medical advice. Your target, your treatment and any decision about your medication are matters for your doctor. If you feel unwell or are concerned about a reading, contact a healthcare professional; in an emergency, contact your local emergency service.

4. Readings you take yourself

The App does not measure anything. Blood pressure is measured by your own monitor, and the accuracy of a reading depends on that device and on how you use it. The camera feature is an input aid: it reads the digits shown on the display and fills them in for you, and you confirm them before anything is saved. Please check the numbers each time.

5. Free use and Premium subscription

The App is free to use and contains no advertising. Recording, camera input, reminders, widgets, Siri, graphs, the calendar, CSV export, the app lock, basic Health app sync and backup and transfer are free.

An optional subscription, Steady Premium, adds the doctor-visit PDF report, profiles for more than one person, the full long-term graphs, weight and medication records, full Health app sync and iCloud sync.

• Subscriptions are offered monthly or yearly and are billed through your Apple Account.
• A free trial, where offered, converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel first.
• Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can cancel at any time in the App (Settings → Manage or cancel subscription) or in the Settings app of your device. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the subscription stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Payments are handled by Apple. Refunds are governed by Apple's policies, not by us.
• If a subscription ends, your records stay on your device and remain readable and exportable; only the Premium features stop.

6. Your data is yours

Your records are stored on your device. We do not operate a server for them and we cannot see them. If you turn on iCloud sync, your records are stored in your own iCloud account under your control. See the Privacy Policy.

Because the data lives on your device, you are responsible for keeping a backup. The App can save a backup file at any time, free of charge. We cannot recover records from a device that is lost, reset or damaged.

7. Using the App properly

Please do not attempt to reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the App, use it to break the law, or use it in a way that harms others. The App is licensed to you for personal use; it is not sold.

8. Intellectual property

The App, its name, its design and its content are owned by us or our licensors.

9. No warranty

The App is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any reading it displays is accurate or suitable for a particular purpose. Text recognition from a photograph can misread a digit, which is why you confirm every value before it is saved.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data, or for any decision taken on the basis of information shown in the App. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the event.

11. Changes

We may update the App and these terms. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new date above. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you live.
